Is Cribbage Lab free?
Yes. The app is a free download and every feature — all five opponents, the drills, the hand analyzer, and the card scanner — is included.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The engine, the scanner, and the analyzer all run on your device. You can play and train on a plane with no signal.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. Cribbage Lab runs on iPhone and iPad, and needs iOS 17 or later.
How does the card scanner work?
Point your camera at cards on the table and an on-device machine-learning model reads them, then hands them straight to the analyzer. The images never leave your phone.
Where does the win probability come from?
A lookup table built by simulating 20,000 games from each of 29,768 score states — about 595 million games — then smoothed so the surface never disagrees with itself. Your hand is folded in exactly, by averaging over all 46 possible cuts.
Does my progress sync between devices?
Yes, through your own iCloud account. Your stats and custom opponents follow you; nothing is stored on our servers.
